Dolbadarn Castle
A ruined castle, dating from the sixth century, on the southern end of Llyn Peris, and guarding the pass of Llanberis and the ancient stronghold of Eryri. The castle played an important part in the wars of Llewellyn and Edward I, of Glyndwr and Henry IV and V. It was partially dismantled in 1284, and only some of the tower walls and a magnificent spiral staircase remain.
