Cymer Abbey

The remains of an abbey (pron. Kimmer), founded about 1200, which stand on the east bank of the Mawddach, about 1 mile from Dolgelley, and facing the village of Llanelltyd. Part of the Abbey church, including the west tower, nave, and choir, still remain. The ivy-clad ruin, set in the most charming wooded surroundings, has a peaceful, lost atmosphere about it.
