A popular tourist centre 5 1/4 miles west of Bettws-y-Coed, where the road branches north to Bangor and south to Beddgelert. There is excellent fishing to be had in the river Llugwy, and in Llyn Mymbyr, while the village makes a fine centre for hikers and climbers. Moel Siabod lies immediately to the south, while the Glyders and Tryfan are within easy reach. The junction at Pen-y-Gwryd is 4 miles to the west, making the Snowdon Horseshoe a practicable day's ridge walking. Capel Curig has half a dozen good hotels.
