Aberdyfi
This is a quiet seaside resort with beautiful sands and safe bathing, which stands on the north side of the mouth of the Dovey estuary, about 16 miles south of Barmouth. The surrounding countryside is delightful for walking, and is full of legendary associations; Llyn-y-Barfog, for instance, means the “lake of the bearded giant,” a figure out of Celtic mythology. The angling in the vicinity is good. The golf course of Aberdovey is perhaps the finest in Britain.
Aberdyfi station is on the Cambrian line, operated by Arriva Trains Wales, and is therefore easily reached by train. There are guest houses and hotels available.
Aberdyfi is sometimes found spelled: "Aberdovey", which is an old English-influenced spelling. It is know generally accepted as "Aberdyfi".
